An access log is a text file which contains a thorough list of all of the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All of the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script app and a site visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you might find a lot of files in the log. This is because there are things on the home page that are embedded - parts of other pages, pictures, and so on. All these files will be listed within the access log, so that you can get a full picture of the way your site performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, as well as the user’s IP address, Internet browser and Operating System. Additional information, including the referrer website, is oftentimes provided too. A log file could be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics provided by your server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and go to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you will see a download link along with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your PC and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you don't require one, you could stop it with only a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will have the option to enable or deactivate the generation of access logs with no more than a couple of clicks within your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You shall find this feature inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access as soon as you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is one click on the On button that you'll see there. The function can be activated separately for any website regardless if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you shall find the complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with simply a click and you could then look at it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation may be stopped by simply changing the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your Control Panel.
